Los Angeles Magazine is a monthly magazine that “covers the people, food, culture, arts and entertainment, fashion, lifestyle, and news that defines Southern California with a signature mix of feature-length writing, service journalism, investigative reporting, and design.”

The purpose of the assignment was to recreate a magazine cover based on both the magazine’s style and the instructor’s requirements.

When I followed the instructor’s requirements, however, I felt that the cover veered too far from the magazine’s style. So I created a second version of the cover that more closely resembles Los Angeles Magazine’s style guide.
